RED CHILLI (OXFORD ROAD) CHINESE RESTAURANT

My favourite Sichuan Restaurant in Manchester. Really Really good duck. Sliced at the table in front of you. Popular with Chinese and locals alike. The price is very reasonable.

Very authentic and tasty. The menu is extensive and has lots of dishes from across China (mostly northern/northeast Chinese food). Great if you want to eat experience Chinese food you won't find in a typical Chinese takeaway. For those that are not that acquainted with authentic Chinese food, they have set menus that offer a good range.

Best Chinese in Manchester that I have eaten. Very good veggie options as well.

Excellent

Called in before a gig at the Academy. I had some wonderful fillet steak rolls and satay chicken. My partner had one of the chef’s specials, which had chicken thighs, noodles and lots of vegetables. He was very impressed, and we are both keen to go back and try again when we have more time to enjoy.

Some unusual dishes alongside the British favourites

I popped in here after dropping Child number 1 off for their first year at university halls opposite. I was the only non-Chinese person in the long queue which is always a good sign and was found a table for one quickly and efficiently. I chose to have GongBaochicken with fried peanuts and chilli - it was marked as 2 chilli pepper dish but I found it had just the right amount of hotness. Wish I had had some company so I could have tried some other dishes too. There are plenty of unusual dishes such as duck tongues and jelly fish but British favourites too. For a huge portion of chicken, egg fried rice, unlimited tea and tap water, I was charged £13.80 which I think is pretty good value as the food was delicious. I have recommended it to my child number 1 for an occasional treat as I reckon a portion could be made to last two nights if you cook your own rice and veggies and there is 10% off for take away.I look forward to eating here again when visiting in future.

Always excellent

I am genuinely surprised by some of the reviews here as red chilli has always been outstanding for us. It is a true testament of how good it is is that it attracts a real mix of people and many of whom are regulars.

The menu is vast so we can take a while to pick your dishes but I can particularly recommend the dim sum. The pork knuckle is also excellent along with the Philips steak rolls. I’m sure that nearly every dish is excellent an A bad one yet.

Prices are reasonable and the portions large. The services always cheerful and prompt and chilli oil which really enhances the food is always brought free of charge. Definitely worth a visit.
